Celtic coach, Brendan Rodgers has reiterated his team’s readiness for the second half of the Ladbrokes Premiership as they face relegation threatened St Mirren at home.

The clash will be the first meeting between the two clubs in 2019 after the reverse fixture ended goaless back in september 2018.

After a long break from active football, the Ladbrokes Premiership return to action as Celtic prepare to fight for the league title after finishing the first half joint on the same point with Old Firm rivals Rangers.

Ahead of the clash with St Mirren, Rodgers praised the improvement of his team during the break.

“We need to be able to penetrate with and without the ball, get lots of quality into the box and be good on the counter-pressing to sustain the attacks. We’ll prepare for a tough game but we’ve started our game schedule back well and we want to continue with that.”

Celtic are joint top with Rangers on the Premiership table with 42 points after Rangers defeated the celts 1-0 to finish the year on a high. Scottish midfielder Ryan Jack scored the only goal to lift Rangers over Celtic.

The Premiership this season is very competitive compared to previous campaigns were Celtic dominated. Celtic and Rangers are first and second with 42 points closely followed by Kilmarnock 41 and Aberdeen 39.
