This weekend, the last fixtures of the Scottish Premiership in January will go in several cities housing Premiership teams.

Now, we take a look at the top three teams and how they played this month.

The month of January did not witness much fixtures due to the long break observed by the SPFL board after the teams were involved in a heavy schedule of games during the festive period.

Celtic, the league leaders faced huge competition from Rangers last year, finishing the year as joint leaders.

As the championship got underway from matchday 22, the three team at the top all faced big games.

Celtic played against Premiership strugglers St Mirren cruising past the visitors by 4-0.

Celtic made a statement in encounter to further cement their dominace in the Premiership.

Rangers travelled to face fellow top Premiership team Kilmarnock and with the host knowing what they have stake, they did all they could to grab the three points.

Rangers were good but could not get the best result travelling to Kilmarnock.

In the encounter, Defoe warned the rest of teams at the top that they ain’t ready to make the numbers, but to become champions.

The result gave Celtic and Kilmarnock a slight edge over Rangers in the matchday.

Standings after day 22

Celtic 45
Kilmarnock 44
Rangers 42

Matchday 23, what we expect

What we expect from matchday 23 is simply a revenge from Rangers, dominance from Celtic and seriousness from Kilmarnock.

Defoe’s signing was a huge boost for Rangers coupled with the brilliant young stars in the team. On other hand Kilmarnock are no pushovers and you can think of it again.

Leaders Celtic again are worthy champions, but the competition in the Scottish Premiership poses a threat to their dominace.
