Salomon Kalou came off the bench to protect Hertha Berlin from loosing a valuable point against visiting Schalke at the Olympiastadion in the Bundesliga on friday night.

The Ivorian came into the second half as a substitute in the 72nd minute for Hertha Berlin saviour in Vedad Ibisevic on the night.

Vedad Ibisevic scored the equalizer for Hertha which proved to be the point saving goal for Hertha Berlin on the night.

The visitors Schalke 04 had gone ahead early in the first half through Yevhen Konoplyanka.

After the goal was scored, Hertha Berlin were forced to put more players upfront to trouble schalke’s defence.

The tactics employed by coach Pal Dardai payed off when Grujic equalized for the home side.

But Uth could not rest until he scored the second goal for the visitors on the night.

Vedad Ibisevic quickly scored to put the match back on level terms before the break.

Salomon Kalou was eventually introduced by coach Pal Dardai in the 72nd minute to help in the midfield.

The 33-year old ivorian midfielder tried his best to keep schalke’s attack at bay in the middle of the pack.

In a thrilling encounter at Olympiastadion, the two teams showed their class in the first half but came back in the second half to preserve their goals.
