The new feature works in this way; for users with large screen display the motion smothing feature has already been embeded.
SteamVR Motion smoothing; whenever it sees that an app isn’t going to make frame rate, the motion smothing automaically kicks in. The motion smoothing sees the last two frame rates, takes an estimate of both the animation and motion and then it extends to new frame.
The combination of new frame together enables to the current application to stay at full framerate thus improves the motion.
With this the player still maintains full framerate
